One Picture is Worth A Thousand Words
I believe that this picture to the right is worth a thousand words, and more. It shows a young boy who is lifting the ocean up like it is a carpet, only to see an assortment of plastic and garbage underneath the surface. This image means to imply the point that there is a lot of pollution under our ocean including plastic and garbage that we simply throw away. Not only does this image represent pollution underneath the water's surface, but it also shows a crab who is not in the water, which could be poisoned and damaged by the garbage through consumption as well as bioaccumulation. The aquatic life in the sea first of all can mistake the garbage and plastics for food and ingest them and die. They can also pass it up through the food chain through the process of bioaccumulation. As well, habitats are destroyed by the garbage leaving smaller fish vulnerable to predators. Overall, this picture evidently is worth a thousand words. ...
